Re: Open letter
regarding integrity of elections in our union
Dear Mr. Hard:
As you are aware
many members have doubts about the integrity of
the SEIU Local 1000 elections. The
fact that you once again placed Paul Gonzalez-Coke in charge of the
election committee; despite the many
examples of incompetence, the fact that your hand picked election
protest committee made such outrageous and unappeasable decisions last
time, the fact that union resources are used to aid your candidates all
support those concerns.
In an effort to
help reassure the membership that there were at least some reasons
to support the process;
I invited Greg Sachs
as a guest on SHOUT TV to explain the
process and to discuss his role in the
election. Greg agreed to appear but then cancelled because you ordered
him not to appear. I sent you an email asking you what you were
hiding. I asked why you were afraid of
transparency and asked you to reconsider? I asked you to make this
information available to the members you claim to represent.
You failed to
respond to the email. I called your office and got your voice mail. I
called the cell phone that the members pay so
that you are assessable; I got no answer. I called Cathy
Hackett’s office and got no response. I called her member paid cell
phone and
she answered. I explained the situation but she also refused to
permit Mr. Sachs to appear on SHOUT TV
to discuss the issue. She said that you have
complete control over Channel
1000 and that if the members really needed to have the information you
would provide it through that means.
She also clearly missed the point. Many members don’t trust you and I
must admit that they have good reason for that mistrust.
Needless to mention that you are a totally
incompetent and corrupt leader! However, I would like to praise and
thank you very much for being a great follower. I’m talking about
following my lead and with weeks of frustration and watching the
sunshine on SHOUT TV, you established Channel 1000. Thanks for
advertising for us, SHOUT TV and Channel 1000 have a great and obvious
contrast, we tell the truth and you like to lie, we expose your corrupt
ways and you deceitfully fool members, hide and disguise. We inform and
educate the members, you deceitfully keep them in the dark, we empower
members to take our union back and you pretend that you are doing
something by doing NOTHING! We are transparent and accountable and you
are turning the lights off.
I am a candidate
for SEIU Local 1000 President. I want
the members to be actively engaged. I want them to vote. I offered the
members a chance to hear from someone outside of
SEIU Local 1000
on how the voting process worked. You
have decided that the members don’t need that
information.
Since you are
afraid that Mr. Sachs may not toe the company line, since you
are afraid of independent information,
just as you fear accountability, I would hope that you would find some
way of making this information readily available
to the membership of SEIU 1000.
If most of the union’s membership perceive
that our union leaders are corrupt, are not accountable and there is no
transparency then there is a good reason for it and this is a solid,
undisputable evidence of the facts.
In closing, be advised that this is an open
letter that will be posted on
www.roar1000.com;
www.shouttv4u.com and
www.sos1000.org and for the airing pleasure of our members will be
televised on Shouttv4u on May 1, 2008.
Sincerely,
Ken Hamidi
